UK’s best gas bbq – get authentic charred flavour from a gas bbq!!!
This article was last updated on April 23rd, 2022 at 6:38 am
Despite the interminable bad weather we seem to face as Brits, we all share a common love of the bbq. And to make the most of any milder weather, there’s nothing better than eating outside while soaking up the sunshine, and there’s no better way of doing that than with one of the best gas barbecues that can give almost all of the char grilled flavour of a charcoal bbq. Earlier on in the year I showed you the best indoor bbq grills to try to give some of that vibe from your conservatory or Summer house, but now that we are approaching the best time of the year, its time to change focus 🙂
Buying the best gas bbq will enhance your cooking experience and ability. Fact – I know this from personally using them over the last twenty years – I’ve written gas bbq tips for beginners and how to use a gas bbq as well as the best foods to cook on a gas bbq. And what you’ll understand from these useful guides. They have a huge advantage over charcoal bbq’s these days considering you can add smoker wood chips in a smoker wood chip box to your gas bbq, giving all of the authentic char grilled flavour (and you get to control how much char flavour) when compared to charcoal. The next question is how do you find the best gas bbq without days of research – be it small, large, or even commercial quality? Luckily we’ve put together the most conclusive range of gas barbecues available in the UK today for your convenience.
The gas bbq UK: my professional top picks:
Best gas bbq overall: CosmoGrill barbecue 6+1 Pro Gas Grill
Best small gas bbq: Char-Broil 140893 Advantage Series 225S best two gas burner
Best large gas bbq: CosmoGrill barbecue 6+1 Pro Gas Grill best 6 gas burner
Heavy duty professional pick: Weber Genesis II E-410 GBS, Smoke Gray Gasgrill If you’re serious and want the best of the best gas bbq’s then this is it! Commercial enterprise use these daily for years.
Best portable gas bbq: Weber gas grill Titan
Budget pick: Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ
There’s no set answer as to the best gas bbq. It completely depends on what you want from your gas bbq. So we’ve broken the review down to try to help each circumstance. If you’re looking for budget we’ve got that covered. If you’re looking for quality and value we have that covered too. We have also covered all the different burner sizes so you can find your own perfect gas barbecue.
Gas bbq buyers guide
Looking to strike a balance of price and performance? My bbq buyers guide will help you through some of the biggest problems you’ll face. Whilst I’m a known for charcoal bbq’s in a professional capacity, I love any barbecue. We even barbecue in winter, albeit indoors on a portable gas bbq or indoor bbq grill but that’s for later in another post. We are spoilt for choice, it’s been a pleasure finding the very best gas bbq for outdoor garden use!
How to get authentic char grilled flavour from a gas bbq?
With the rise of smoker wood chips you can now get most of the flavour of a charcoal bbq from a gas bbq. They are so simple to use too. Simply put a few chips in your smoker box and pull the lid down. Then let those chips smoke away gently. Here’s a look at how to setup smoker wood chips on a gas bbq:
It really is that simple and you’ll have smokey meat flavour from a gas bbq too!
Types of gas bbq?
Interestingly gas bbq’s are one of the most catered for segment of the market. The ease of use, speed in which you can get cooking, minimal fuss putting them away, and safety of gas bottles make these the perfect choice and most popular. So here’s a look at all the different types that we’ve mentioned (2 burner is small, 4 burner is medium to large, and 6 burner and up is out and out large).
2 burner gas bbq
In case you’re looking for quick answers I’ve moved the best gas bbq selections to the top of the page here. I advise a full read but we came up with the Char-Broil Performance SeriesTM T22G. It couldn’t really be faulted and although on the costly side, you get what you pay for and some. It’s a bargain that’ll last and give quality barbecue experiences time and time again and easily wins the best 2 burner gas bbq section.
4 burner gas bbq:
We really like the CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue in the 4 burner range. It offers excellent value for money and performs really well. I think the Fire Mountain Everest 4 Burner Gas Barbecue deserves a mention but it’s not as good or as reasonably well priced as the CosmoGrill. Though I really like the aesthetics of the Mountain Everest, the best 4 burner gas bbq is the CosmoGrill.
Cheap gas bbq options
We are spoilt in the uk when it comes to a cheap gas bbq. My review wasn’t really tailored to cheap barbecue options and yet even by random selection there are two of the best, cheapest barbecues available in the UK today in this review. The first is the Landmann Grill Chef 12375 FT which we’ve already discussed in quite some detail. It’s a great pick for a cheap and cheerful solution.
My preferred cheap gas bbq is the Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ. What a bit of kit for £99.99. It has a fair few of the gadgets you would expect from upper end setups such like the shelving, auto ignition, and a stainless steel griddle. They did everything basic for a barbecue right on this model and I am very impressed with its performance as a budget barbecue.
There are plenty of cheap gas bbq options though, you only need to run into Lidl or Tesco to pick one up off the shelf there and then. You’ll quickly realise that these models are up to the job too. Granted, you’ll need to lug it home yourself but if you’re in a rush then it’s certainly an option. I wouldn’t go much cheaper than £100 for a gas setup though. Bear in mind your safety is at risk here. Anytime you use gas you must be sure so personally I would stick with the devil you know and not go ‘too cheap’. You won’t go wrong with the Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition. It’s a nice bit of kit that’s been reviewed hundreds of times online as a great budget barbecue.
Also, in my mind the CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue is the gas bbq sale [UK] of the summer. You would be hard pushed to find a better bit of kit for the money. Bear in mind its a 4 burner with all the tricks of a high end model, it simply cannot be ignored.
That concludes my overall view on the best gas barbecues. I hope you like the in depth nature of the review. If you think gas might not be for you then please take a look at our charcoal barbecue options or perhaps even our main barbecue page for a roundup of all the available barbecuing options available to you.
The best cheap gas bbq wasn’t a contest. The Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ totally outperformed on price to quality and usability. But the problem is do you trust the material construction? Literally head and shoulders above the rest. If you’re looking for a cheap gas bbq for your home then it’s impossible to go wrong with this lovely little grill. It’ll handle up to four people. So even a small family could get use from this grill, you could also stagger the cooking for a larger family on a budget.
Quality over price?
I favour the Char-Broil Performance Series T47G. I prefer quality over quantity all day long, especially when my limbs are at risk. And let’s be clear, anytime you expose yourself to the potential of a great big explosion, and then put a naked flame nearby, that’s what you’re doing. The risks are extremely minimal, of course, but it’s far better to be safe than sorry. Why tempt fate? Pay up for a decent gas bbq and although you’re probably just as safe either way, psychologically at least you remove the fear element 🙂 Otherwise you go for the Weber:
If I was to pick another stand out in my gas bbq reviews then it would have to be the Charles Bentley 7 Burner. I do question sometimes how they can manage to produce such an incredible bit of kit at such a reasonable price. Granted as we discovered in the reviews it won’t last forever. The issue at hand is that you get a 7 burner barbecue for less than the price of a quality 2 burner. While that’s not my style, it’s hard to ignore when on the day of arrival it looks every bit as impressive as the £800 7 burner barbecues you see for sale.
In fact, if you look at the reviews online you’ll quickly realise this is just their ethos. They are delivering high quality first time at the right price without the need of a gas bbq sale sticker slapped on it.
6 burner gas bbq
Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue Side Burner as it’s described is a 6 burner gas barbecue with a side burner. Value for money as usual with the Charles Bentley range is practically guaranteed. So as far as best 6 burner gas bbq goes, this one is really up there for us. You can cook for a huge number of people and while it won’t last as long as the top brands, you are not shelling out £800 either…
On the balance of all the reviews above, I am an advocate of the CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue. If we look at the national 2.4 average and the type of person that’s barbecuing the most(normally families with kids), parents relaxing with a drink around the barbecue while catching their kids play peacefully. This model selection makes sense as the best gas bbq [UK] this year. While I’ll update this, in my mind it’s the best option for now.
2 burner gas bbq
We have reviewed some of the best 2 burner gas bbq options available in the UK and I have to say us Brits are spoiled for choice when it comes to value for money. With the 2 burner gas bbq being the most popular you can pick up a decent one for as little as just under £100 quid! That’s not just my opinion either. The Charles Bentley range shows incredible promise in this range when it comes to value for money and has thousands of 5 star reviews all over the internet.
Who uses a 2 burner gas bbq?
A 2 burner gas bbq is absolutely ideal for up to four people. That doesn’t mean you cannot cook for more though, it would just be a case of staging the food and cooking in batches. The best thing about these little gas barbecues is the ability to get great value for money.
If you’re a small family, a couple, or even a single looking to invite a few mates round for a barbecue, the 2 burner is an option for you. It also presents an opportunity for larger families with limited budgets too.
Another huge advantage of a 2 burner gas bbq is the size. If you have a small garden or patio then this will be ideal. It allows easily manoeuvrability too. If you’re not the strongest, or you don’t have any help, you will not struggle to move a small grill about.
Lava rock gas bbq
A lava rock gas bbq basically means it has fake imitation coals that will store heat from the burner. This is good for two things. Firstly, huge amounts of heat is literally just wasted when applied directly to the food. The lava rocks act as a way to grab the heat and in some cases can continue cooking for up to 30 minutes. This is absolutely ideal if you’re looking to turn the gas off early and save money! You can easily convert a gas bbq to this method too if you want to save money:
Lava rocks don’t just save gas though. They also provide an even heat that will allow you more control when cooking once you have them to temperature. While this method doesn’t work so well for variable temperatures, if you’re looking for steady heat then this is the way forward! In this post, the Landmann Grill Chef 12375 FT 2 Burner Gas Barbecue is the top choice for a barbecue that has lava rocks. It’s also extremely well priced so worth a look.
Gas bbq with hot plate
Would you buy a bbq without a hot plate? I wouldn’t. One of the biggest advantages to using gas that I can see is the ability to have a hot plate or grill. The uneven temperature and logistics of having a grill on a charcoal barbecue makes the gas version far more favourable here. While it didn’t perform so well in our review, the Campingaz Gas BBQ Adelaide 3 Woody is a great example of a very traditional gas barbecue setup.
A hot plate is useful for so many things. Let’s start with the onions and small vegetables. Have you ever wondered how the pros sweat off their onions? This is normally done in the meat juices on a hot plate right there on the barbecue, not in a pan on the oven in the kitchen while we are outside tending the barbecue! You know what I’m talking about I’m sure 🙂
1. CosmoGrill barbecue 6+1 Pro Gas Grill
A fantastic option for the larger family is the Cosmogrill 6+1 pro gas grill and I have to say at this money it’s worth the investment. I prefer it over Weber and Campingaz on price and the quality has stood the test of time, since I wrote this article two year ago this unit has stood up remarkably well – we aren’t talking Weber quality though when directly compared as they are direct competition for the best gas bbq.
It doesn’t matter how big you or your tribe’s appetites are, with this six burner bbq you can definitely have enough food on the go to satisfy them all. When you’re cooking up a king sized feast, it helps to have everything you need at hand, and the CosmoGrill 6+1 burner bbq makes that easier, with plenty of storage space beneath the grill for utensils and other equipment. You could even stick you kids under there when they’re playing up a bit too much (joking).
Keeping the heat regulated is always important when you’re the king of the grill, and with features like a double layered bbq hood, compete with aluminium inner layer and a built in thermometer, that task has been simplified by CosmoGrill; with individual controls for the six burners, you can cook things on different parts of the two separate grills at different heats and speeds, so you can always get your family’s orders right, no matter what their preferences are: rare, medium, or well done and I’d say these controls are easily on par with the more expensive brands when compared.
There are two large side tables, one on either side of the main grill, and the left side one also doubles up as a side burner, perfect for cooking up sauces, and soups while your steaks and burgers get the grill treatment. When you’re done with the day’s grilling, you have the inevitable ‘pleasure’ of cleaning up, but thankfully that has been made a little less messy with the removable grease tray. I’d have to say, anyone that is slow with cleaning and maintenance won’t be disappointed – here’s what you can expect your grill to look like if left out for a couple of years and used frequently:
At 43 kilograms in weight, it is unlikely that this gas bbq will be blowing away in the wind, but it has been fitted with four heavy duty caster wheels so that you can push it around without breaking your back. The wheels have brakes on them that can lock the barbecue in place, giving you a really stable cooking platform to work with.
Now you don’t get anything for free in this life, and the price you pay for this stunning looking gas bbq (apart from the price tag) is the time you need to spend assembling it, as it arrives flat pack style. With a few of you working together though, you should be able to have this bad boy set up in a couple of hours or so.
Please be aware that a regulator for the gas doesn’t come with this bbq and will have to be bought separately, but they’re easy enough to come by and not expensive.
The ComsoGrill 6+1 burner gas bbq is available in black or silver, and both colours looked fantastic. In addition, the overall finish of this bbq is excellent and it really does give off a vibe of premium quality.
This 6+1 gas bbq is available to buy for £399.99 with free delivery from Amazon. Buy it now and whip up a colossal barbecued feast that your family will love.
2. Campingaz 3 Series Classic LS Plus Gas BBQ 3 Burner
If you truly want one of the best gas bbq grills out there, and are willing to pay the extra for it, then the Campingaz 3 series LS plus could be just the right model for you.
This is a premium gas bbq in every sense of the word and everything from the materials, to the build quality, to the cooking performance is truly excellent.
The enamelled cast iron cooking grid is not only a good size at 61 x 46 cm, but the heat distribution across the grill is extremely even, with 90 percent of the cooking surface being able to reach a uniform 250 degrees or more. This is thanks to the 3x 3.2kW 9.6 kw stainless steel tube burners that perform outstandingly well and definitely plenty of output heat – I would chose this over my overall top pick if you’re looking for cheaper or don’t need the sheer grill space. You can get a serious bit of grilling done on a 3 burner.
Here’s a look at their sales video before we get moving – it’s a nice walk around:
The extra side burner is less powerful at 2.4kw, but is more than up to the job of preparing side dishes and sauces, and is actually quite large, allowing you to use decent sized saucepans or frying pans on there.
The enamelled warming rack too has enough length and depth to hold more than a few smaller items on there at the same time. You’re not going to get a whole roast chicken on there or anything silly like that, but it’s a good place to slow cook some thinner cuts of beef after a quick sear on the main grill, providing you can get the heat high enough.
This 3 burner gas bbq has been designed with what the makers call their ‘InstaClean’ system. Basically, most of the parts of the cooking area that get dirty and greasy can be removed super easily and then just popped into a dishwasher or a bowl of soapy warm water. It really does make keeping the bbq in top condition so much easier, and this of course prolongs the working life of it.
There is a ton of storage space in the cupboard beneath the grill, so you can have your plates, cutlery and whatever else you fancy keeping in there, close at hand. The large doors provide easy access too.
This is a heavy old beast at 53kg, but that is because a lot of the materials used are excellent quality and not flimsy, easily broken, tatt like you get on some cheaper gas barbecues. The weight isn’t a hindrance anyway, as the four lockable caster wheels are more than up to the job of supporting and moving the bbq around.
The Campingaz 3 series LS plus features a solid steel lid, complete with thermometer and large handle. The lid, when closed, sels down well to provide good insulation and protection for your food from surprise and unwanted weather changes.
This model is also compatible with the campingaz culinary modular system, so you can purchase their pizza stone, or other attachments like the wok, to give you more cooking options and invoke your inner Gordon Ramsey (minus the swearing), to please the family and keep things interesting.
While it certainly isn’t the cheapest model out there on the UK market, it is an outstanding one, and definitely one of the best 3 burner gas bbqs available, in my opinion. The instructions are clear and easy to understand, the cooking performance is excellent, it is incredibly easy to clean, and is built to last. And on top of all that, it has a two year warranty.
3. Weber Genesis II E-410 GBS, Smoke Gray Gasgrill
The Weber Genesis II E-410 GBS is basically one of those gas grills that says ‘anything you can do, I can do better’ without being an empty brag. This is the real deal as far as gas grills go and is easily justifiable being the top pick. And before we go into why, let’s take a look at this gas bbq:
As you can see from the walk around, the first thing you notice is the sheer class look of this unit. The only gas bbq that directly competes for looks in this review is the Char-Broil 140893 Advantage Series 225S but even then, I feel this is miles better.
it doesn’t stop there either, the 4 burner is 14kW which as the average of burners go, is a good 10-15% more output than the other gas burners in this review. In fact, it basically packs as much punch as the top pick Cosmogrill 6+1 pro gas which offers 12kW on 6 burners! In fact when you add the 7th burner it finally competes with the rating of just 4 from Weber. Obviously the trade off is the price. But what are the other differences?
The main difference is anti rust stainless steel actually means it. The Weber 670 I’ve seen tested extensively looks as good as new on the average night on the bbq. The quality of stainless and iron grates really is not comparable at all to the cheaper models:
You’ll like the side table, they are pretty sturdy but I don’t think they negate the need for an actual bbq side table – they just are not big enough. With that said, the neat hiding place for the gas bottle that’s easy access is a decent win – hardly surprising with these guys that have been designing bbq’s since the start.
4. Char-Broil 140893 Advantage Series 225S - 2 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill with TRU-Infrared Technology, Stainless Steel Finish
The Char-Broil Performance SeriesTM T22G – 2 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill is a star performer but comes with the price tag. It’s only a 2 burner gas bbq but it’s high quality and built to last. If you’re looking for a long term, quality over quantity solution, then this is the pick and I would definitely take this over the Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner – though the price difference may have you thinking otherwise! The 6kW power is pretty impressive, right up there with the Campingaz at 3.1kW per burner so plenty of power for a small unit.
It comes with a modern true-infrared cooking system that is said to reduce flare ups and as a result keep the moisture in your food. It also results in up to 30% less gas being used, which is a nice bonus. These figures wildly vary though depending on your skills. If you’re advanced then there’s no way you can get these kind of figure improvements, but if your new, it’s a great way of getting up to professional standard with the assistance of technology.
It has a nice warming rack and folding shelves which stack away well. The best bit though is the cast iron cooking grates. These are high quality and will help give a nice charred look to your meat. This little gas bbq is absolutely ideal for four people, you can do plenty more if you stagger the food, which we all do anyway. Many favour a smaller bbq thats much higher quality then a large one that fails easily. Any which way you look at it, this is one of the best gas bbq grills you can get, if not the best gas bbq in the UK. If you think you need a bigger gas bbq, the way to go is the Char-Broil Performance Series T47G – 4 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill.
Unlike the cheaper versions that only offer 12 month warranty, the Char-Broil 140893 Advantage Series 225S – 2 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill goes for 2 years. They believe in their product and it’s a big step up from the cheap gas bbq offers when you compare them directly.

Apart from the odd complaint about self assembly which applies to all gas barbecues these days, this is practically faultless. It cleans well, it performs well, it’s great on fuel and so far is easily the top pick. You might argue the price is up there, but nothing can be done about that. You want quality, then you must pay up for it and this little barbecue will deliver!
5. Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ
The Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ is no slouch. Just like the Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue this is an excellent value for money gas bbq. I’ll put it straight out there, this is THE cheap gas bbq. You won’t get a better bit of kit that’ll give you a good few seasons for £99.99 in a hurry. Not one with hundreds of positive feedback all over the internet.
It has a nice tube burner setup that seems to last pretty well. There’s a handy removable grease tray and heat plate. There is the usual thermometer built in, warming rack, shelves, and pretty decent wheels that make it nice and mobile. With it only weighing 12.7kg it’s not difficult to move.
The griddle is pretty decent steel and the design lends itself to not having food stick. I would say be careful though, you could easily lose thinner items like thin sausages, but overall, its very nice indeed. With a hose and regulator included, you just can’t go wrong if you want cheap and cheerful. The best thing though by a mile is just how easy it is to put together. Like all barbecues its susceptible to a bit of rust but really, what do you want for £99.99? It’s a cracking deal and easy to see why so many love it.

It’s had to pick fault in this bargain 2 burner gas bbq. The Charles Bentley Deluxe Auto Ignition 2 Burner Gas BBQ seriously does itself justice. Of all the Charles Bentley range, they really did well here. I mean how can you sell a gas bbq at this price, make money, and keep the standard decent too? Well done I say!
6. Campingaz Gas BBQ Adelaide 3 Woody
The Campingaz Gas BBQ Adelaide 3 Woody is a nice piece of kit and I’ve included it for balance and more manufacturers. It has its problems if you get a factory dud and they are quite severe, but if you don’t, it’s an incredible bit of kit and one of the best gas bbq on the market. I should point out, of the few I know with a melting knob issue, thousands are absolutely fine and it’s not one to rule out for the sake of a couple of bad factory productions.
The Campingaz Gas BBQ Adelaide 3 Woody is a 3 burner setup that’s pretty well proportioned. It’s pretty easy to move about on two wheels and it comes in my favoured wood finished. Overall it’s a very accomplished bit of kit. The enamel stamped steel makes for a reliable cooking surface that cleans well and won’t wreck your food. You won’t find yourself pulling your burgers and sausages off a sticking grill which is very nice. It is also a gas bbq with hot plate. This allows you to cook the smallest food items.

The obvious problem with the Campingaz Gas BBQ Adelaide 3 Woody would be the melting knobs on the odd one that comes out as a factory dud. The assembly isn’t much fun when parts are missing but they won’t let you down, they will send a replacement. If you like a wooden finish, looking for a hot plate, and want a nice quality gas bbq then this is probably the one for you.
The 4 burner gas bbq doesn’t disappoint. With the vast majority of barbecues involving families and kids the 4 burner gas bbq range is packed with quality and value. Typically you’ll feed six to ten people in one go from the largest 4 burner gas bbq which is a big advantage over a 2 burner, especially if you want to cook and eat at the same time and want a set plan to sit down as a family once the cooking is over.
Given a 2 burner costs from £100 and a decent 4 burner starts at around £160. Pound for pound, much better value for money can be found in this range. So if you’re on the fence and not sure if you should pick a 2 or 4 burner, then a serious factor should be the value for money.
Without question a 4 burner gas bbq is for families and those with a fair sized patio or garden. If you are limited on space then it might not work for you. If you have the space and the budget, or just need the size of grill, you can’t go far wrong with a 4 burner grill. They are the best value for money on the market at the moment in the UK.
7. CosmoGrill 4+1 Gas Burner Garden Grill BBQ Barbecue
The CosmoGrill 4+1 Gas Burner Garden Grill BBQ Barbecue is a 4 burner gas bbq with an additional side burner. This is a seriously accomplished gas bbq and ideal for medium and large families. This is the no frills version of the CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue, the deluxe version is about £80 more and offer far more spec and not to be confused with this one but on a budget this is just the ticket! They also make a nice smoker too!
What I like most about this barbecue is the ability to cook so evenly. There are absolutely no cold spots and it moves pretty well on its two wheels. This obviously means you’ll need to lift but we rarely find a flat spot in the garden where four wheels is a huge advantage anyway…
Without stating the obvious, this barbecue really looks good. You’ll be surprised just how nice the paintwork looks when you pop it out of the box.

This review seems a little dull and that’s because it is. This is a no frills, nice looking gas bbq. It’s going on the cheap gas bbq list and offers decent value for money. It needs a hose and regulator too so factor that into the purchase price. It’s a definite buy for a family of four to five people on a budget. You’ll get a few years decent service out of it.
8. CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue
The CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue is honestly far more exciting to review than the basic model above. First off, what I really like is that Propane & Butane Gas is compatible with this model. That’s a big plus but remember you’ll need a regulator as it doesn’t come with one.
This model has far more gadgets as you would expect being the deluxe model. It has a very nice side burner and can easily handle enough food for a party of ten, more if you stage cook. For the price, it’s pretty much untouchable.
Cheap gas bbq: CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue
For me, the CosmoGrill Deluxe 4+1 Gas Burner Grill BBQ Barbecue is the cheapest gas bbq in the UK at the moment. This isn’t even a gas bbq sale, this is the normal price. You can get a discount by playing around with Amazon’s credit card but honestly, this is one of those cheap gas bbq deals with no thrills and silly huge price slash stunts. Actually if I’m honest, I think it’s the best deal in the UK at the moment with regards to a 4 burner gas bbq.
It has cracking enamelled grill plates which stop food sticking and subsequently help the cleaning process too. On that note, it’s a nice big drip tray though some have mentioned it won’t catch everything so bear that in mind. The hood works well enough and this is generally a good medium term solution.

For a cheap gas bbq it has issues. The first is the assembly takes a fair while. Make sure you have a solid hour for the assembly process and make sure you buy your gas and regulator too. You’ll need them to get up and running.
The biggest issue is the rust, this is something that has to be expected from buying budget. You’ve got two choices really. Get a cracking bit of kit that’ll last a good few years seriously cheap or pay up over double for a machine that will probably last twice as long. I don’t think you lose much either way, except the more expensive models generally clean easier. Overall though, there’s not a better 4 burner gas bbq for the money.
9. Fire Mountain Everest 4 Burner Gas Barbecue
The Fire Mountain Everest 4 Burner Gas Barbecue is a very nice all round 4 burner gas bbq. It benefits from the higher quality enamelled cast iron grill plate and griddle so cleaning and cooking performance is right up there. That’s a real plus when you consider the price. It’s absolutely ideal for larger families and parties.
Another nice touch is the stainless steel hood which helps prolong life and reduce rust. The warming rack and the built in gauge for the temperature just adds to the flavour. No pun intended!
Coming with a regulator, good wheels to move it around, removable drip tray, and a couple of shelves, you’re wondering how this is so cheap? Well it’s certainly value but does have an issue or two.

Excellent value for money |
The biggest complaint I face is the rust. This does seem to rust away quickly but I will say so many are sold that invariably a few will get beaten up more than others. I always factor you’ll get a good three or four years out of this. If you consider it’s half the price of a Char Broil, it still represents a pretty fair value for money.
10. Char-Broil Performance Series T47G - 4 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill
The Char-Broil Performance Series T47G – 4 Burner Gas Barbecue Grill is a bigger version of the Char-Broil Performance SeriesTM T22G. Where do I start? This is the real deal as are all in the Char Broil gas bbq range. For a start, its by far the best looking gas bbq we’ve reviewed so far and the performance certainly matches the looks. The anti flare up tech really works and will protect your food that is for certain. If you’re not the best on the barbecue, this grill will help you out and raise the standard considerably.
They make the same claim regarding reduced fuel consumption and improved moisture held in the meat as the T22G. Being four burners this will cook for big parties and large families effortlessly. The burners are stainless steel which means this is going to really last well. It comes with the sure fire electric starter and is generally a high quality piece of equipment.
The wheels have locking castors which is nice because on even surfaces this thing is so manouvrable that it could move away from you. The side burner and grate level temp gauge is pretty much the icing on the cake. A genuinely high quality gas bbq and well worth the asking price.

11. Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue Side Burner
First up on our list of reviews is the Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue Side Burner. Now this is a serious piece of kit for not a lot of money! If you refer to our 6 burner gas bbq section, you’ll quickly understand this is one of the biggest gas barbecues that you can get for home use and priced at just , it probably makes it one of the cheapest gas bbq options as well.
The Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue Side Burner is a pretty substantial bit of kit with a long list of spec; weighing 37kg this is a two man operation to lift, though once you have it on an even surface the wheels make it very light and manoeuvrable.
This is the ideal barbecue for a large family or those that wish to entertain a large gathering. It’s very easy to use and understand, almost in the same way you use the oven! The 6 individual gas burners provide ample space for even and accurate cooking by creating different heat zones. That’s not all( I did mention this was seriously spec heavy), it comes with a removable drip tray for easy cleaning and a side table for cleanly food preparation. There’s a few hooks for your barbecue utensils and even a sauce rack.
With a warming rack built in and a thermometer in the hood, no stone has been left unturned on the Charles Bentley 7 Burner Premium Gas Bbq Barbecue Side Burner. They have also included the hose and regulator in the kit too. The best bit is yet to come. Cheap gas bbq |
It’s not without fault though, with the extreme value this gas bbq offers, there has to be compromise. This is a cheap gas bbq and expecting £800 + quality is not going to happen, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. The material is solid enough but not equal to the standard of the top models and will rust if not really looked after well. This applies to top models too though, don’t forget that! The ceramic coated grill plates are not the best but certainly adequate. The frame construction is pretty good but thinner than the top models. It requires full assembly yourself and there are full instructions to do so; I’ve never had any complaint here.
You have to ask yourself, are you willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for an all singing all dancing model with 6 burners, that costs less than a high end 2 burner setup. Personally, I think as a midterm solution(4-5 years or so), this is one of the best gas bbq options available to you.
3. Landmann Grill Chef 12375 FT 2 Burner Gas Barbecue
If you’re looking for a good quality, 2 burner gas barbecue then the Landmann Grill Chef 12375 FT 2 Burner Gas Barbecue with Flame Tamer should be up there on the list of buys.
This is a Lava rock gas bbq which as we know provides excellent fuel efficiency. You’ll turn the gas off and maintain heat for a good while after. One of the best features on this barbecue is the size of the grill. It has decent wheels to move it around too, it’s missing a handle to complete the manoeuvrability but it’s not heavy, you won’t struggle.
Despite the overall size being a small gas burner, it has a very good sized grill in relation to the overall size and as Landmann gas bbq’s go, this is a solid bit of kit.
The grill is chrome plated so meat doesn’t stick easily. It’s very easy to adjust the temperature and control the heat to your food which is why we all look for a gas bbq. The flame tamer is designed to add a bit of authentic barbecue flavour and I think it does contribute. One of the things I miss about taking my time with a charcoal barbecue is the smoky flavour so the flame tamer goes a fair way to bridge the gap.
There’s not much more to say, it’s an ok little gas bbq that’s brilliantly priced so makes it’s way into our cheap gas bbq category too. You can’t really ask for more for .

2 burner gas bbq | No handle to push around |
Cheap gas bbq | Drip tray small |
Flame tamer | rusts easily |
12 month warranty |
It has a couple of niggly bits if you want to be fussy. There’s no handle so moving it when hot is a slight issue, otherwise it’s lightweight enough to push about easily. The drip tray fills up quickly but of course this depends on the food you’re cooking. You can’t go far wrong for the price and decent quality. It rusts easily but don’t they all. It’s not my favourite but I wanted to bring a Landmann into the review because they are cheap.
Types of gas bbq
We’ve put together a list of terms that will help you further understand the purchase of your perfect gas barbecue.
Char Broil gas bbq
The Char Broil gas bbq is known for quality over quantity. If you’re looking for a barbecue that will serve you faithfully for many years to come, this brand is a top choice. Char Broil is an American brand but don’t let that put you off. They make extremely high quality barbecue equipment at very sensible prices.
In this review we looked at two Char Broil barbecues. One for a smaller budget or small family which is the Char-Broil Performance SeriesTM T22G. This is a lovely little two burner setup and will look after you for many years to come. When you buy Char Broil, it’s a decision to buy a product that will last very well. Ultimately when you spend the extra on a barbecue it will boil down to you wanting a solid piece of equipment. The Char Broil gas bbq will not fail you on performance and they all come with regulators as standard so it’s a case of assembling, plug in your gas bottle, and away you go!
We also looked at a higher end model, the 4 burner Char-Broil Performance Series T47G. This is everything I just described for the 2 burner but more and bigger! Lovely bit of kit and with the extra space you can control the heat at different areas on your barbecue allowing for different cooking temperatures of different foods. It’ a great bit of kit and most definitely the professionals choice.
Landmann gas bbq
The Landmann gas bbq does everything reasonably well and is pretty fairly priced. It’s the mid range equipment that lasts fairly well but never really outperforms its rivals. Take the Landmann Grill Chef 12375 FT 2 Burner Gas Barbecue for instance. This lovely little barbecue is cheap and cheerful and comes with some of the upper end gadgets like lava rocks. This is a nice touch considering it is the low end of the budget.
I like Landmann barbecues in general. I think they are prone to rusting away quickly, if we are honest though, apart from spending really big, none of these barbecues will go much past three or four seasons so take that comment with a pinch of salt.
